Selecting Hyperlinks Without Running The Connection
In access you can have hyperlinks to web sites in your data fields. However, when ever you select the link, how can you do it without running the link for editing purposes. You can use keyboard combinations to select just the link for editing without calling up your browser. Use the following keys as listed:
- Position the cursor to the left of the first character in the hyperlink's display text and then press Ctrl-Right Arrow.
- Position the cursor to the right of the text and press Ctrl-Left Arrow. Either combination will select the entire hyperlink.
Only one click is needed because no matter how long the hyperlink is, it is still only one entity. Either of the above keyboard combinations will select the hyperlink and allow you to edit the link.
Tip comes from Susan Sales Harkins, a private consultant specializing in Access and VBA development. She currently has two technical books on the shelves: "Using Microsoft Access 97" and "Using Microsoft Access 2000." Both are QUE publications.
