Convert Numerical Text To Numbers
Typically when you are entering in a phone number for example, you will place an apostrphe (') in front of the data to label it as numerical text. You may do this for other numerical data such as social security numbers, and more. However, what if you want to turn some of that numerical text into numerics. Follow these steps:
- Select the range of data you want to convert.
- Next, choose Data, Text To Columns.
- Click Next twice.
- Choose the General format in the Column Data Format section.
- Then click Finish.
The data will now be numeric where you can perform mathematical functions on the converted data.
