A Simple Data Sort
Excel can easily sort data in either ascending or descending order by one or more columns of data. For an example, follow these steps:
- Enter in the following data in Column A:
- Then enter the following data in Column C:
- Now select A1 through C5 and then choose Data|Sort.
- When the Sort dialog box opens, make sure Column A and Ascending are selected and click OK.
The data will be sorted. If you did not select C5, then the prices won't match up correctly. Excel does give you the option to sort in descending order and by one column of data, then next.
