Send An Email Message Quickly
Would you like to send a message from your desktop quickly without having to access Outlook? Well, it is possible, just:
- Right-Click on your desktop wallpaper.
- Create a new shortcut.
- In the command line box, type mailto: instead of providing an application's name.
- Then click the Next button and enter a name for the shortcut, such as Mail or Send.
- Then click the Finish button.
To send a message, just double-click the new shortcut and you will see the send window. Also, the Send button still works the way it does when Outlook is loaded. Once you compose the message, then just click Send. You may see a screen stating the Outlook is closing, but actually Outlook never fully loaded. The mailto: parameter also works in HTML coding when you want to place an email address on the web. The shortcut icon will automatically have the Internet Explorer type, but this can be changed by Right-Clicking on the icon and selecting Properties, then click on the Change Icon button. This tip will also work with Outlook 98.
