Word automatically enters the numbers in for you to create a quick outline. For an example, follow these instructions:
- When you want to add a numbered list to a Word document, click the Numbering button in the toolbar, or you can simply type a
followed by a period, then a space, and then your text.
- Press Enter and Word will supply the number 2 with a period and the proper spacing.
- This technique can also be used with Roman Numerals or you can simply click on the bullets button to use them for your outline.
You can change the indents by clicking on your increase or decrease indent buttons on your toolbar or strike the Enter key twice to get out of the outline mode.
