Fix CD Burner Incompatibility
XP has various problems with CD Burners, so here is a tip from Steven Bink (www.bink.nu) on a Registry Hack. Of course, always backup your registry prior to any modifications. Follow these steps:
- First Start, Run, then type regedt32 and click OK.
- Export a copy of your registry for backup, then go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CDBurning\Drives. Note: All CD drives are in the same key.
- The Drive Type value will have to be changed to your CD drive type. There are three different values available:
- If you have more than one CDROM/CDRW drive, they will be listed under the Drives individually. Change one at a time, so you get the right one. This may fix your problem with CD burning when you are doing a native burn using XP, NOT when using Roxio DirectCD or some other third party package.
